No-Bake Banana Oat Energy Bites

Aug 7
3 min read

Simple, naturally sweet, and ready in 35 minutes—these no-bake banana oat energy bites are one of the easiest ways to see the 'Cook Once, Nourish 4 Ways' framework in action. One banana oat base, rolled and ready, is then styled four different ways depending on what your body needs.

All four finished variations are plated together (cinnamon-dusted, cacao and pumpkin seed, pistachio, coconut and freeze-dried strawberry).

No-Bake Banana Oat Energy Bite Ingredients

Base

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed

  • 150g rolled oats

  • 3 tbsp cashew butter (or almond butter)

  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup

  • 1 tsp vanilla bean paste

  • Pinch of sea salt

  • 1 scoop of protein powder (optional) – unflavoured or vanilla (take out the vanilla bean paste if you use vanilla)

How to Make No-Bake Banana Oat Energy Bites

  1. In a large bowl, mash the bananas until smooth.

  2. Stir in the cashew butter, honey, and vanilla bean paste until well combined.

  3. Add the oats, protein powder and sea salt, mixing until you have a thick, slightly sticky dough. If it feels too wet, add a little more oats, 1 tbsp at a time.

  4. Roll the mixture into small balls, about a tablespoon each.

  5. Place on a lined tray and chill in the fridge for 20 minutes to firm up.

  6. Once chilled, divide onto four plates and style each with its own topping direction (see framework below)—perfect for filming your four variations side by side.

The Nourish 4 Ways Framework

One banana-oat base and four nourishing directions.

Ingredients for No-Bake Banana Oat Energy Bites, including cacao powder and pumpkin seeds for the menstrual phase variation.
Rolling the base into shape before the four swaps begin.

🌙 Menstrual Phase

Swap: Roll the bites in cacao powder before chilling.

Booster: Top with pumpkin seeds.

Why? Cacao and pumpkin seeds provide magnesium, which many women find supportive during menstruation.

🌱 Follicular Phase

Swap: Roll the bites in desiccated coconut.

Booster: Top with a few fresh berries.

Why? A lighter coating and fresh fruit suit the more energised feeling many notice in this phase.

☀️ Ovulatory Phase

Swap: Roll the bites in finely chopped pistachios.

Booster: Drizzle with a little extra honey.

Why? Extra crunch and natural sweetness match the more vibrant energy many women experience around ovulation.

Rolling a bite in cinnamon, other variations are visible on a plate behind.

🍂 Luteal Phase

Swap: Roll the bites in cinnamon.

Booster: Top with a small drizzle of melted dark chocolate.

Why? Warming spice and a touch of chocolate can feel particularly comforting during the luteal phase when cravings often shift.

Cook Once Tip

Double the batch and freeze half—these bites freeze beautifully and thaw in about 10 minutes at room temperature, so you've always got a grab-and-go snack ready without starting from scratch. I like rolling a full batch into plain bites first, then splitting them across all four toppings depending on what the week ahead looks like — no need to decide in advance which phase you're in.

Storage

Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days, or freeze for up to 2 months.

Imogen's Note

This is the recipe I make when I want something quick, with no fuss, and ready in minutes—proof that a simple base can still stretch four different ways depending on what your body's asking for that day.
